Day 241

Saturday.  Did nothing but read manga on they internet (a continuation from Friday night).  Finally was able to stop when I had to meet with Zahra at 2~3pm (which turned into 4:45) to talk about KSB method.  Went to Alex's and Daniella's housewarming afterwards.  Sunday.  Must du laundry now, because I failed to do housework yesterday (except run dishwasher for Friday's failed cooking of Ricotta Gnocchi).  Tonight at 7:30 is Shakespeare reading at Matteo's place... with Iranian accent.  And Italian and Japanese.  Maybe Australian too.

Monday, Tuesday: Whoa, lost a lot of days.  And there are 82 abstracts today?!  Crazy.

1204.3088
An investigation into the character of pre-explosion core-collapse supernova shock motion
Burrows, Dolence, Murphy

Investigate structure of the stalled supernova shock in both 2d and 3d and explore the differences in effects of neutrino heating and the standing accretion shock instability (SASI).  Some discrepancy in 2d and 3d, sloshing found.

1204.3089
The intermediate mass black hole candidate in the center of NGC 404: new evidence from radio continuum observations
Nyland, Marvil, Wrobel, Young, Zauderer

Found radio emission most consistent with IMBH at the center of NGC 404, a small lenticular galaxy near (but not bound to) the Local Group.  Candidates are: X-ray binary, star formation, a SNe remnant, or a low-luminosity AGN powered by IMBH.

1204.3090
Fermionic warm dark matter produces galaxy cores in the observed scales
Destri, de Vega, Sanchez

Fermionic DM with its exclusion principle generates halo core of kpc to Mpc scale; for CDM, core is between dozens of km and a few meters.  Fermionic WDM treated quantum mechanically reproduces the observed DM cores of galaxies.

1204.3137
The open luster NGC 6823 and possible triggered star formation associated with SNR G59.5+0.1
Xu, Wang

Number of YSOs are significantly enhanced in the interacting regions, indicating the presence of some recently formed stars.  The SNR is in adiabatic expansion phase, and its age is 8.6e4 yrs.

1204.3233
Subaru FOCAS survey of z=7-7.1 Ly{\alpha} emitters: a test for z>~ 7 Ly{\alpha} photometric luminosity functions
Ota, Iye

Subaru survey in NB980~9800A (FWHM~100A).  Expected number of LAEs in survey (5 z=7 and 3 z=7.7 LFs): consistent with null for 7 LFs; but avg value of 1 for one z=7 and two z=7.7 LFs.  The remaining one predicts 3 LAEs detection.  There was one candidate, but no spectroscopic confirmation.
