It is now Tuesday. I need to be in a sufficiently cool room to keep myself from overheating. I was in a week-long heatstroke (probably longer) because of this. I did manage to finish debugging yesterday, and Jon was happy.

A Suzaku view of cyclotron line sources and candidates and an introduction to eROSITA

* eROSITA: a German X-ray astronomy satellite. Build by a consortium under the leadership of Max Planck Institute for Extraterristrial Physics; aboard the Russian Spectrum-X-Gamma satellite. Sensitive from 0.2 to 10 keV with an maximum effective area of 2300 cm2, a FoV of 1 degree, and angular resolution of 15". Scheduled to be launched 9/2013; perform all-sky X-ray survey, followed by pointed observations.
* Suzaku: Japanese X-ray astronomy satellite launched in 2005; X-ray spectrometer failed, but the telescope, imaging spectrometry and the hard X-ray detector is functional
Suzaku can observe CRSFs (cyclotron resonance scattering features) in the X-ray spectra of high-mass X-ray binaries / accreting neutron star pulsars at 10-60 keV to high accuracy with moderate observation time.
